Secrets to preventing osteoporosis...

Hey Tearty,

If you're concerned about osteoporosis -- or know someone who is -- here's great news. The Vegetarian Health Institute recently hosted a great Q&A call with Michael Klaper, M.D.  The topic: "Secrets to preventing osteoporosis". Here are a few of the topics covered:
  • The shocking "reverse correlation" between milk consumption and osteoporosis
  • Why bone density test results are NOT a true indicator of osteoporosis
  • Does fluoridated water strengthen your bones or deteriorate them?
  • When are x-rays and bone density tests deceptive?
  • What affects bone strength besies calcium
Normally, recordings of the Institute's Q&A calls are only available to their paying students. However, I've called in a favor so that you too can hear this particular Q&A call.

All I ask is that you participate in a 1-minute survey first. It'll help me know what kinds of recipes to send you in the future. To participate in the survey, click here now.

As soon as you complete the survey, you'll receive the link to this enlightening Q&A call.

A few important notes:

If you're an ovo lacto vegetarian, be aware that Dr Klaper is anti-dairy and addresses his answers primarily to vegans. Most of the students on this particular Q&A call were vegans.

He also refers to an acid/alkaline table. This is the table Institute students receive in Lesson 2 of the Vegan / Vegetarian Mastery Program, "Maintaining a healthy pH balance".

Finally, Trevor misquoted the URL address for Dr Fuhrman's vitamin supplement. It's not www.multivitamin.com. It's www.VEGANmultivitamin.com

Here's what's covered in this Q&A:

  • Why acid-forming foods cause your body to leech calcium from your bones
  • Which food groups are acid-forming and which are alkaline forming
  • What causes calcium loss and can't be fixed with supplements
  • Why most people can no longer rely on sunshine for Vitamin D
  • How to know for sure if you're getting enough Vitamin D
  • Which foods contain animal-based Vitamin D3, which can come from the skins of cows or pigs
You'll also discover:

  • Which foods and condiments put your bones at risk
  • Simple bone-strengthening exercises you can do without a gym membership
  • Which foods are rich in the other nutrients crucial for strong bones
  • A special garment you can wear while walking to get double the benefit
  • Walking, running, dancing, bicycling, swimming... which of these strengthen bones and which don't?
  • The difference between bone density and bone strength, and which matters most
  • How to improve your balance so you're far less likely to fall
  • Simple home furnishing tips that dramatically affect your risk of falling
I look forward to receiving your survey answers, and I know you'll enjoy the Q&A call!
